Nashville Dance Collective is seeking 1-2 additional board members as we continue growing as an official nonprofit corporation!

Mission

NDC uplifts dance and movement artists in Nashville and the Southern Midwest through equitable opportunities that promote a healthy art-work-life balance for artists and accessible entertainment for the public. We advocate equal respect for Arts in our community with sustainable administrative and somatic practices that continually develop alongside the artistic freedom and risk they support.

Ideal members have an inherent interest or investment in our city and region's Arts communities (especially dance and performing arts), consistent time and energy for volunteer work, and proactive team collaboration skills.

This is an opportunity to assist in NDC’s development by participating in our work and providing invaluable support to our artists, staff, and volunteers.

We are especially interested in individuals with backgrounds in:

  • Law: Arts, copyright, non-profit, music.

  • Finance: Accounting, taxes, budgets.

  • Fundraising: Project management, community resources.

  • Community networking: Event-planning, advocacy, relationship-building.

With a lower priority in:

  • Writing: Grant-writing, newsletters, blogs.

  • Language: Fluency in English and Spanish.

Our board needs that have been met are:

  • Computer Science: Web development, graphic design.

  • Artists: Active dance artist, familiarity with challenges and barriers.

General Expectations:

  • Advocate for our organization and mission.

  • Encourage contributions to and engagement with our work.

  • Thank donors and volunteers.

  • Proactive participation in meetings, events, and with NDC artists & staff.

  • Ensure our nonprofit activities are advancing its mission, adhering to its bylaws, and enforcing its conflict of interest policy.

Estimated Commitment:

  • 10 hours a month.

  • Quarterly board meetings.

  • Minimum monthly communication with NDC’s Artistic and/or Executive Director(s).
